Feedback from people who actually played.
Post your game at any stage, from jam prototype to Steam release. On browser games, players can rate only after 5 minutes of play, and every rating is tied to the version they played.
How it works
Post your game
Already on itch.io? Paste your page link and we fill in the title, description, cover and tags for you. Upload a web build as a .zip and it plays right on the page, or link your Steam, itch.io or store page. Label how it was made: Human-Made, AI-Assisted or AI-Created.
Players play and rate
Ratings come with Fun, Polish and Performance scores and written feedback. Browser-game reviews show how long the player played, so you know who actually tried it.
Improve and show it off
Reply to feedback, mark issues Planned or Fixed in a version, and post updates that notify followers. Turn your best reviews into badges for your Steam page or website.
What it costs
| Your first game slot | Free, forever |
|---|---|
| Extra slots (up to 5 games) | $7 a month or $60 a year each |
| Ratings, feedback inbox, analytics, review badges | Included |
| Paid playtests | Optional, below |
Cancelling a slot never deletes a game: extra games are archived and come back when you add a slot.
Paid playtests
Pay testers a flat fee for a structured report: what they liked, what confused them, bugs, difficulty, and up to 3 questions of your own. Testers are paid the same whether they loved the game or not.
| Tier | Play time | Per tester |
|---|---|---|
| Quick Look | 20+ min | $6.25 ($5 to the tester) |
| Standard | 45+ min | $12.50 ($10 to the tester) |
| Deep Dive | 120+ min | $31.25 ($25 to the tester) |
Works for browser games, Steam keys, and store or TestFlight links. Paid reports stay private and never affect public ratings.
Uploading a web build
- Any HTML5 game: zip the folder that contains index.html. Up to 300 MB. Most builds that run on itch.io run here unchanged.
- Godot 4: export for Web with Thread Support off (the default since 4.3).
- Unity: WebGL builds with Brotli or Gzip compression work.
- GameMaker, Phaser, Construct, plain JavaScript: export to HTML5 and zip it.
- Steam-only or downloadable games: skip the build and add your Steam or download link. Players rate them too.

Games run on their own address (play.provingground.games), away from player accounts. Builds may not contain programs such as .exe or .dll files.
Questions
- Can I post a prototype or jam game?
- Yes. Early Testing is made for rough builds. Players see the stage on every card.
- Can I use AI in my game?
- Yes, as long as the label is accurate. Players filter by label, and mislabeled games are removed.
- Can I remove my game later?
- Archive it any time from your dashboard. It's hidden from players and frees the slot; ratings and builds are kept.
- Who can rate my game?
- Anyone with a confirmed account, except you. On browser games they need 5 minutes of play first.
