Terms of Service

1. Who can use Proving Ground

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. If you're under 18, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms on your behalf. Paid testing is only for people 18 and older (see the Tester Terms).

2. Your account

Keep your password private and your email address current. One person, one account. You're responsible for what happens on your account.

3. Ratings and feedback

Ratings must reflect your own experience of the game. Don't post ratings for games you made, were paid to rate (outside the labelled paid playtest system), or were offered something in return for rating a certain way. Developers may not offer rewards for positive ratings.

4. Developers

You may only upload games you have the right to distribute. You're responsible for your game's content, its AI label and its descriptions being accurate. Uploads must be web builds that run in the browser; programs that run outside the browser are not allowed. We may remove games that break these terms or the Content Guidelines.

You keep ownership of your game. By uploading it you give Proving Ground permission to host it, show it to players, and use its title, cover and screenshots to promote it on the site.

5. Payments

Extra game slots are subscriptions billed monthly or yearly until cancelled. Cancelling stops future charges; the slot stays available until the end of the period you've paid for. If you then have more active games than slots, your newest games are archived, never deleted.

Paid playtests are paid up front. The price is the tester fee plus a 25% platform fee. Unused spots are refunded if you cancel a playtest. Fees for accepted reports are not refundable. Disputes over report quality are decided by our team.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We don't store card numbers.

6. Suspensions

We may suspend accounts that break these terms, for example for fake ratings, mislabeled AI content, harassment or uploading harmful files. Suspended accounts' games and ratings are hidden.

7. No warranty

Games on Proving Ground are made by independent developers, often unfinished. We provide the service "as is" and aren't responsible for the games themselves.

8. Changes

We'll tell you by email or on the site before material changes to these terms take effect.
